An unusually large fine Nigerian spessartite garnet, 7.97 carats.

Description
This is an unusually large spessartite garnet from Nigeria. The color is a deep burnt orange to red. I cut the gem in a modified shield design to maximize the use of the natural shape of the gem nodule. It weighs 7.97 carats and measures 12.75 x 11.30 x 7.21 mm. It is almost totally flawless with the exception of one small internal crack that is only visible when viewing from the pavilion at certain angles. Face up the gem is completely eye clean.
