Description
This unheated Montana sapphire is a show-stopping bright blue; in 2022, it placed 2nd in the “North-American Mined Gemstones” category at the AGTA Spectrum Awards. The color picks up a slight violet tone in incandescent light, a slightly greenish robin’s-egg blue tone in LED light, and rich medium blue tone in daylight. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. This sapphire has a very small inclusion visible in the photo that is nearly impossible to see in person without high magnification. There is natural rutile silk throughout the stone that will flash a silvery shimmer when caught at the right angle in certain lights. This fascinating feature is proof positive of its unheated nature, and even displays a hexagonal pattern indicative of the sapphire’s crystal structure.
This sapphire is faceted in our “Stella” brilliant square cushion design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 7.79 carats and measures 11.5 x 7.5 mm.
This sapphire comes with a special GIA “Sapphire Origin and Traceability” report that records the gem first as the rough uncut stone direct from the mine, and then as the finished cut gemstone. The report number is 6227304006 and can be verified on the GIA website; see attached image of the report in the image gallery.
