Description
Tanzanite is the trade name for deep blue to blue-purple Zoisite that is found in only one location on the earth–the hills of Merelani, Tanzania. Most tanzanite has been heated to remove the orange-brown and greenish-yellow components and to turn the gem to a dark blue to purple-blue color. However, we prefer the natural mixed colors and pastel tones of unheated Tanzanite (sometimes called “Fancy Tanzanite” or “Fancy Zoisite”). This gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way.
This gem is a beautiful bluish violet purple. It has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe.
This Tanzanite is faceted in an elongated hexagon design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 5.01 carats and measures 11.0 x 8.9 x 7.1 mm.
