A gorgeous deep magenta-pink tourmaline from Oyo, Nigeria in a custom trillion design, 3.10 carats.

Description

This tourmaline is a rich deep magenta-red color, shifting with the light from a deeper more purplish red under fluorescent light to a brighter hot pink-magenta under incandescent light.  The rough came from old material mined in Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria in the 1990’s.  It is completely natural and untreated.

I faceted this gem in a custom trillion design I created; it follows the outline of the natural gem crystal.  The resulting gemstone is extremely bright and flashy, and has excellent off-axis performance.  The gem weighs 3.10 carats and measures 9.0 x 6.5 mm. It is perfect for a pendant or a unique ring.
