Description
This unheated Montana sapphire is a lovely minty green with only a hint of blue, an unusual color for Montana stones. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. It has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe. The small patches of natural rutile silk are less prominent in person than in the macro photo, and they are proof positive of the stone’s unheated nature. The small rainbow reflection seen in the macro photo is an internal twinning plane that is not visible to the unaided eye, and does not impact the durability of the gem.
This sapphire is faceted in a classic emerald cut and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 2.95 carats and measures 11.5 x 6.4 x 4.0 mm.
