Description
Tanzanite is the trade name for deep blue to blue-purple Zoisite that is found in only one location on the earth–the hills of Merelani, Tanzania. Most tanzanite has been heated to remove the orange-brown and greenish-yellow components and to turn the gem to a dark blue to purple-blue color. However, we prefer the natural mixed colors and pastel tones of unheated Tanzanite (sometimes called “Fancy Tanzanite” or “Fancy Zoisite”). This gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way.
This particular Tanzanite was cut to show a unique combination of teal and green. The gem shows flashes of the colors, creating a “particolored” effect. This Tanzanite has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. This Tanzanite is faceted in our “Serendipity” brilliant oval design. The gemstone weighs 2.83 carats and measures 9.6 x 7.7 x 5.9 mm.
