Description
This unheated Umba sapphire is a beautiful rich cornflower blue–one of the most desirable hues for a sapphire. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. The gem was upcycled from a vintage piece of jewelry, and based on gemological evidence, it is from Umba, Tanzania. It has slight inclusions that are just barely visible to the unaided eye. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire has been recut in the United States to improve the brilliance; it is faceted in a classic brilliant oval design and cut to high precision. It weighs 2.60 carats and measures 10.5 x 7.1 x 4.6 mm.
