Description
This unheated sapphire from Umba, Tanzania, is a rare color change gem: it’s a violet-tinged blue under daylight (first photo), while under incandescent light, the color changes to a warmer purple (second photo). The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. It has slight inclusions that are just barely visible to the unaided eye. It looks better in person than the photo would imply. The dark stripes are rose channels with oxide staining that do not impact the gem’s durability. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This sapphire is faceted in our “Serendipity” brilliant oval design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. It weighs 1.56 carats and measures 7.4 x 5.9 x 4.6 mm.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
