Description
This lovely deep reddish-purple sapphire is from the Umba River Valley in Tanzania. Like most of the sapphire from the Umba Valley, it shows interesting shifts of color, showing a richer red-magenta purple under incandescent light and a bluish-red purple in daylight. It is completely natural with no treatments whatsoever. There is a small feather in one corner and a tiny bit of a “natural” left on one edge, although both are very difficult to see and the feather requires a loupe. There are also tiny internal tube-like inclusions typical for Umba sapphire, but these are also only visible with a loupe. The overall gem is eye clean and is lively and richly-colored in the hand. I faceted it in my “Aurora” custom square cushion design; it weighs 1.29 carats and measures 5.45 x 5.45 x 4.35 mm.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
