Description
This gorgeous Montana sapphire is rare and unusual color for Montana–a saturated magenta pink. Completely natural and untreated, this is the color of the gem just as it formed deep in the earth, millions of years ago. This sapphire has very good clarity, with just a small amount of natural rutile needles and clouds and one small feather. The rutile is not visible in the hand without a 10x loupe; the magnified photo here shows them more than you can see with the unaided eye. Unheated natural sapphires with good clarity like this are very rare; each year we are only able to cut about 5-7% of our rough without having it heated.
This gem is faceted in our custom “Helena” brilliant oval design, created and optimized for sapphire; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 0.72 carats and measures 5.7 mm x 4.9 mm x 3.6 mm.
