Description
This unheated Ceylon sapphire is a classic shade of light blue with violet tones, one of the more desirable colors for sapphire. The gem is 100% natural and untreated in any way. It was sourced directly from a mine owner in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) is famous for its gemstones, especially sapphires. The government has maintained regulation over mining to prevent large-scale environmentally destructive mining from occurring, encouraging small-scale artisanal mining. This gem has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire has been recut in the United States to improve the brilliance; it is faceted in a concave faceted oval design by award-winning artist Derek Katzenbach. It weighs 2.49 carats and measures 8.3 x 7.5 x 5.4 mm.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
