Description
This gorgeous bright orange spessartite garnet is remarkably clean for this gem variety and locality–most have a significant amount of fine bubble inclusions. This stone has just a few tiny bubbles that are only visible with a 10x loupe–otherwise it is eye clean. The rough comes from Loliondo, Tanzania and was sourced for me in Africa by a good friend.
I faceted it in my own modified version of the classic diamond brilliant cut with offset mains, and the cut and polish are superb. The resulting gem is incredibly brilliant in the hand, like a little fireball of orange. It weighs 1.84 carats and measures 6.85 x 4.95 mm.
